The Role of Management refers to specific categories of managerial behavior. They are suppose: 1. To guide organizations toward goal accomplishment 2. To combine and use resources for attainment of organizational purpose B. “Management” is defined as the process of reaching organizational goals by working with and through people and other organizational resources. Today’s definition of management encompasses the use of Internet technology to facilitate goal attainment. C. The Management Process is the set of ongoing decisions and work activities in which mangers engage as they plan, organize, influence, and control. 1. Planning is a management function that involves the process of defining goals, establishing strategies for achieving those goals, and developing plan to integrate and coordinate activities. 2. Organizing is the second management function that involves the process of determining what tasks are to be done, who is to do them, how the tasks are to b grouped, who reports to whom, and where decisions are to be made. 3. Influencing is the third management function that involves motivating subordinates, influencing individuals or teams as they work, selecting the most effective communication channels, or dealing in any way with employee behavior issues. 4. Controlling is the last management function that involves monitoring actual performance, comparing actual to
standard, and taking
action, if necessary
