هو : جعفر بن أبي طالب بن عبد المطلب بن هاشم المعروف باطيار , أخو الامام علي بن أبي طالب عليه السلام

بعد ما قطعت يداه دعا النبي ان يبدله الله بجنا�*ين يطير بهما في الجنة .

أستشهد في معركة مؤته , ودفن في مؤته وهي قرية من قرى البلقاء في �*دود الشام , وله مزار معروف هناك .

استشهد في 10 / 6 / 0008 هجري .
